Where has NHLC come since its inception? NHLC is now a hub of activity for the many individuals, local agencies, our community college. our law enforcement and local businesses that donate their time to promote Latino arts and culture, healthy recreation, youth development, community wellness and improvement.
While several groups are members, NHLC has had 13 annual plus Independence Day Celebrations in Anderson's River Park focusing on health education, over 6 annual Cesar Chavez Celebrations focusing in service to the community, over 8 annual Scholarship Ceremonies (Latino Grad or Latino Graduation) and has disbursed thousands of dollars as scholarship grants to Latino High School Students.
Although the fundraising activities of NHLC are primarily for the scholarship fund, NHLC has sponsored a "Taste of Latin America" to raise funds for the Redding Library.
Hundreds of people walk through the doors of our events and at least 120 Latino Youths of both genders received scholarship funds.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and NHLC is always in need for specialty volunteers to maintain this web site, to do our bookkeeping and other specialties such as cooking, decorating or helping our programs with their artistic talents.
NHLC has become part of the problem-solving network of our area, as well. With links to so many organizations, we are able to convene partnerships that collaborate to serve individuals, families and issues. An integral part of the community, we are aware of both local and county resources that can assist individuals and community organizations.
NHLC is committed to the overriding belief in Shasta County's future as a model rural community built on the value of multiculturalism and interdependence. This reflects our respect for the contributions that all of our citizens can make to a strong and healthy community, and our job in assisting them to reach out and to respond to each other.
